Ingredients

3 Tablespoons Olive Oil
30 gm. Pancetta You can substitute it with Bacon if Pancetta is unavailable
1 medium Onions
1 Carrot
1 Celery
600 gm. Minced Meat You can use 50% Beef - 50% Pork. Alternatively you can use Minced Italian Sausage Meat
200 ml. Wine You can use red or wine according to your preference.
1 tbsp Tomato Concentrate
600 gm. Tomato Sauce Plain Tomato Sauce (Puree). Without any extra spice.
300 ml. Chicken Stock You can substitute it with vegetable stock.

Easy Beef and Pork Ragu Recipe

    This is an easy (although lengthy process) to make a variation of the traditional Italian Ragu Sauce. This base can be used with a variety of pasta / dishes. It is a go-to recipe that you should definitely have in your arsenal.

    Place a pot on the stove at medium heat. Add 3 tbsp Olive Oil in the pot.

    When the oil is heated but not smoking, add 30 gm of pancetta or bacon and fry till slightly brown and fragrant.

    Add one medium chopped onion and fry till fragrant and slightly softened. Add one chopped celery and one chopped carrot. Sauté till vegetables soften and become aromatic.

    Add 600 grams of minced pork and beef and brown meat well.

    Add 1/2 to 1 cup of good red or white wine. Stir mixture briefly and let alcohol evaporate.

    Add about a tbsp of tomato purée and 600gm of bottled or canned tomato purée. Then add 1 cup of meat or vegetable stock. Stir well.

    Let ragù come to a boil, then lower the heat and let simmer for at least 2 hours. Stir occasionally to make sure it doesn't burn. When ready, serve with pasta or use ragù to prepare other dishes like lasagna or baked pasta.
